This is an excellent commentary suitable for preaching and devotional reading, with highly technical or primarily academic issues kept firmly in the background. The strongest point of the book is how Olsen draws on traditional teaching on Numbers (particularly from Origen), and his own reflections, to dramatically show the profound internal coherence of a book that can seem like a random collage. He generally avoids transgressive readings of the texts, giving a reverent respect for his subject matter. I highly recommend the book.
